We have identified Cocke County's neediest areas:
- Substance Abuse
- Breakdown of the Family
- Poverty
- Depression
Empower Cocke County was established in 2013. It started as the grassroots effort of a local church that was too large for one group. We welcomed in other churches and now have representation from many different denominations. We target these issues through Evangelism, the Hopeline and Vocational Rehabilitation.
Vision Statement:
A collaborative effort of local churches to reach Cocke County with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Mission Statement:
Empower Cocke County desires to see positive life change by helping individuals cease destructive behavior through following the teaching of Jesus Christ. We intend to do this by calling local bodies of Christ together, working side by side in one accord, to accomplish what no one church can do alone.
Intense Outpatient Program:
Living Free Classes are available both online and in person. This curriculum is based on Teen Challenge focusing on the teaching of Jesus in regards to addiction, anger, depression, etc. We are trained to do court appointed evaluations. Also we hope to empower the whole family as addiction affects everyone, not just the person that is struggling.
We have several leaders undergoing spiritual guidance training. This is an in depth study of God's Word and how to apply the Bible to our day to day struggles.

Empower My Ride:
Empower Cocke County is taking Jesus's command seriously to care for the elderly. Empower My Ride uses volunteer drivers to assist those over age 60 with needed transportation. They are able to assist clients to medical appointments, go pick up supplies and other errands. More importantly, Empower My Ride gives a personal relational approach to being the hands of feet of Jesus.
Education: Equipping and Empowering the Youth of Cocke County
We are partnering with Save the Children to have an activity center for Kindergarten readiness.
Prior to COVID19, we worked in the schools with Teen Challenge's Stay Sharp Program. Likewise, Living Free has wonderful curriculum for elementary and middle schoolers that we were developing prior to the pandemic. We are praying for a youth minded team to form that will expand and run these programs.
Did you know the Empower Building has 9,000 ft2 of space that is planned for our youth? Will God have you step out of your comfort zone and take on this God-sized project?

Buy The Pound Store: ETHRA / Heartland Services:
We are blessed to work with ETHRA's Senior Community Service Employment Program and Heartland Services in the By the Pound Store. This program allows the elderly and disabled a safe working environment while developing job skills. The store allows our community to have affordable furniture and clothing and supports our vocational rehab endeavors. We hope you will come by and meet our team!
Workforce Development:
We are excited to have purchased 7 acres and a home for men coming out of addiction. These men will study God's Word, Living Free curriculum to break addiction and Jobs for Life for the soft skills of working. As they heal from addiction, the men will be taught trade skills so that once they graduate they can obtain meaningful employment. This process will break the cycle of poverty and addiction in our community.
We will be welcoming groups to help us ready the land and new home.
