Empower Family Housing
Construction: A Leap of Faith
Beginning Stages
Empower purchased 7 acres and a home as a second location under the Empower Cocke County 501c3. Initially Empower planned to create a men's recovery facility but like many plans do over time and based on community input this plan has morphed into a home for families. These families will study God's Word, utilizing the Living Free curriculum to support peer led recovery. This is for the soft skills of working.
As the adults recover, they will be taught a variety of trade skills from volunteers so that once they graduate from classes they can obtain and keep meaningful employment. This process of longterm and permanent support will theoretically help break the cycle of poverty and addiction for individuals in our community.
Empower will be welcoming mission team groups to help us renovate the home and the surrounding property. Currently a fourth year partner with MFUGE out of Carson Newman.
Past mission teams have traveled to us from Ohio, Virginia, Florida, and Pennsylvania to help complete the work that you see if you enter the downtown location. If you are interested in partnering as a mission team email [email protected]

This project involves two locations. Our main headquarters downtown (as pictured on the home page), located next to the courthouse in the city, and the new site (as pictured above), currently under construction in the county. The downtown location will serve as the primary training facility for daytime activities.
